ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - Congratulations to Casa Boys Basketball for capturing the Golden Empire League (GEL) championship with a big 81-50 victory against the Dixon Rams. The Rams played strong, dominating from the start and never looked back in front of a packed house at home. It also was senior night and a momentous way to celebrate the seniors with a convincing win against the number two team in the league.
“Winning the league was great and I couldn’t have done it without my staff and the buy-in of all the guys,” said Head Coach Nate Gilbert, “We all put in so much time and hard work to make it happen.”
The Rams overall record is 20-7 and 11-0 in league. They have one final league game before heading into the playoffs. This is the first time the Rams have won the league in nine years. Coach Gilbert took over as head coach two years ago and along with his assistant coach, Jason Taylor, have rebuilt the program. Last year the team made it to the playoffs and hope to advance even further this year.
“A league championship is only a steppingstone for the tough road ahead,” Gilbert reflected, “A section title and a state championship is our ultimate goal. Our last remaining game at home was special for all who were there.”
Best of luck to the team as they head into the playoffs. Go Rams!
